Our Pothole Repair Process

1. Site Assessment

  • Inspect the damaged area to determine the cause and extent of the pothole.
  • Identify underlying issues such as water infiltration, base failure, or cracking.
  • Recommend the most effective repair method for long‑term durability.

2. Cutting & Cleaning the Area

  • Square‑cut the edges around the pothole to create a clean, stable repair zone.
  • Remove loose asphalt, debris, and weakened material.
  • Ensure the base is solid and ready for patching.

3. Base Preparation

Depending on the condition of the sub‑base:

  • Add and compact new gravel or road base if needed.
  • Ensure proper compaction to prevent future sinking or cracking.
  • Apply tack coat (bonding agent) to help new asphalt adhere to existing pavement.

4. Hot or Cold Asphalt Patch

We select the right material based on weather and project needs:

Hot Asphalt Patch (Preferred for durability)

  • Place hot‑mix asphalt into the prepared area.
  • Spread and compact it in layers for maximum strength.
  • Create a smooth, level surface that blends with surrounding pavement.

Cold Patch (For quick, temporary repairs)

  • Used during colder months or when immediate repair is needed.
  • Provides a safe, stable surface until a permanent fix can be completed.

5. Compaction & Finishing

  • Compact the asphalt using a plate tamper or roller.
  • Ensure a tight bond with the surrounding pavement.
  • Shape the surface for proper drainage and a clean, professional finish.

6. Final Inspection

  • Check for proper compaction, smoothness, and alignment.
  • Ensure the repair is safe, durable, and ready for traffic.
  • Provide maintenance recommendations to extend the life of the asphalt.
