Our Pothole Repair Process
1. Site Assessment
- Inspect the damaged area to determine the cause and extent of the pothole.
- Identify underlying issues such as water infiltration, base failure, or cracking.
- Recommend the most effective repair method for long‑term durability.
2. Cutting & Cleaning the Area
- Square‑cut the edges around the pothole to create a clean, stable repair zone.
- Remove loose asphalt, debris, and weakened material.
- Ensure the base is solid and ready for patching.
3. Base Preparation
Depending on the condition of the sub‑base:
- Add and compact new gravel or road base if needed.
- Ensure proper compaction to prevent future sinking or cracking.
- Apply tack coat (bonding agent) to help new asphalt adhere to existing pavement.
4. Hot or Cold Asphalt Patch
We select the right material based on weather and project needs:
Hot Asphalt Patch (Preferred for durability)
- Place hot‑mix asphalt into the prepared area.
- Spread and compact it in layers for maximum strength.
- Create a smooth, level surface that blends with surrounding pavement.
Cold Patch (For quick, temporary repairs)
- Used during colder months or when immediate repair is needed.
- Provides a safe, stable surface until a permanent fix can be completed.
5. Compaction & Finishing
- Compact the asphalt using a plate tamper or roller.
- Ensure a tight bond with the surrounding pavement.
- Shape the surface for proper drainage and a clean, professional finish.
6. Final Inspection
- Check for proper compaction, smoothness, and alignment.
- Ensure the repair is safe, durable, and ready for traffic.
- Provide maintenance recommendations to extend the life of the asphalt.
